In 2007, with some urging from professionals at her local rink, Maureen Brotherton began Go Figure Skating, LLC with a friend, Kim Burns. Both were frustrated with the lack of availability of dresses, tights and accessories for their daughters Briana and Abby, both figure skaters. Since Maureen was also a skater back in the day, she still had a passion for the sport. She decided to put her retail, management, organizational and entrepreneurial skills to use.
In April of 2007 (on her Mother’s birthday), she filed the papers and began building her business with Kim. While Kim has moved on to other ventures in her life, she remains a loyal customer.
Maureen continues to serve the Fort Collins area of Colorado and hopes to expand to Windsor and Greeley in Colorado and some Wyoming areas close to Fort Collins. In May of 2008, Go Figure Skating became a Jackson Skate and Ultima Blade Retailer, a goal Maureen had in the early stages of the business. She has successfully obtained a direct buying relationship with some of the biggest names in figure skating- Mondor, Jerry’s, ZUCA, Bunga, Waxel, Jump N Style and Jackson.
